Raj is a Principal and a Co-founder of New Markets Venture Partners . He brings over 10 years of venture capital, corporate and entrepreneurial experience to his position. Raj serves as a board observer for FortiusOne, Artifact Software and Innovative Biosensors.

Prior to co-founding NMVP, Raj launched new businesses at Godrej-GE Appliances, worked on product planning at Federal Express, optimized product design at Kirloskar Electric, assisted several Dingman Center of Entrepreneurship start up companies, and managed an educational services franchise. As a Director of Smith Advisory Services, Raj developed consulting relationships with organizations such as Constellation Energy, BAE Systems, Hughes Network Solutions, World Bank.

Raj teaches a graduate level course in technology entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland, College Park. He participates on review committees of National Science Foundation's Small Business Innovation Research program, Maryland Industrial Partnerships, and Maryland Technology Development Corporation.

Raj has a BS in mechanical engineering from REC Suratkal, India, a Masters in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business where he was awarded the Lamone Entrepreneur Scholarship and the Dean's Scholarship. He is an alumnus of the Venture Capital Institute.

Raj is married and the proud father of one child.
